Women Takano Muro-ji Temple

Women Takano Muro-ji Temple| Grand Mercure Nara Kashihara [Official]

Muro-ji Temple is located in a place where the clear stream flows deep in Mt. Muro, and has long been known as a sacred place for the water god religion and Ryujin religion.

Kongo-buji Temple (Wakayama Prefecture), which was once banned for women, has been widely known as "Nyonin Takano" because it has been visited by women since ancient times. Many national treasures and important cultural properties are scattered throughout the precincts, including the Kondo [National Treasure], which is characterized by a persimmon-roofed roof, and the five-storied pagoda [National Treasure], the smallest outdoor tower in Japan, which is the symbol of Muro-ji Temple.

In September 2020, the Homonoden was opened, and the eleven-faced Kannon Bodhisattva standing statue [National Treasure] and the Jizo Bodhisattva standing statue [important cultural property], which were enshrined in the inner shrine of Kondo, are stored. In the spring, about 3,000 rhododendrons, fresh greenery in early summer, autumn leaves, and quiet snowy scenery in winter color the precincts, healing the hearts of visitors with beautiful appearances of each four seasons.
