Lady Takano Muro-ji Temple
Muro-ji Temple is located in a place where the clear stream flows deep in Mt. Muro, and has long been known as a sacred place of the water god religion and the dragon god religion.
Kongo-buji Temple (Wakayama Prefecture), which was once banned for women, has been widely known as "Nyoninkoya" because women have been visiting since ancient times. In the precincts, there are many national treasures and important cultural properties, including the Kondo [National Treasure], which features a roof with a persimmon roof, and the five-storied pagoda [National Treasure], which is the smallest outdoor tower in Japan, which is the symbol of Muro-ji Temple.
The Homonoden was opened in September 2020, and houses the eleven-faced Kannon Bodhisattva standing statue [national treasure] and the Jizo Bodhisattva standing statue [important cultural property] enshrined in the inner shrine of the Kondo. In spring, about 3,000 rhododendrons, early summer fresh greenery, autumn leaves, and quiet snow scenery in winter color the precincts, healing the hearts of visitors with beautiful appearances of each four seasons.
