Okadera
Okadera is located on the hillside of Okayama, east of Asuka Village. The original name of the temple was Ryuji Temple, but since ancient times it has been called "Tera in Asuka no Oka" = "Okadera" from the name of the land. It is also gaining worship as the seventh bill place of the 33 Kannon Sacred Ground in Nishikuni, and many prayers from all over Japan come as Japan's first evil remedy sacred place.
The main statue of Nyoirin Kannon [Important Cultural Property] is the largest statue in Japan (a Buddha statue made of Sozo and soil) and is said to be the three major Buddhas in Japan.
Rhododendron in spring, hydrangea in the rainy season, and autumn leaves color the precincts in autumn. During Golden Week, the "Hana Pond-Tenjiku Peony Floating on the Water Surface" is held every year, where Tenjiku Peony (Dahlia) decorates the surface of the water, and you can enjoy the gorgeous Okadera in spring.
