Okadera

Okadera | Grand Mercure Nara Kashihara [Official]

Okadera is located on the hillside of Okayama, east of Asuka Village. The original name was Ryuji Temple, but since ancient times, the name of the land has been called "Tera in Asuka no Oka" = "Okadera" with familiarity. It is also gaining religion as the seventh place of Kannon Sacred Ground in 33 places in western Japan, and many prayers from all over Japan visit as Japan's first evil Sacred Ground.

The main statue of Nyoirin Kannon [important cultural property] is Japan's largest statue (a Buddha statue made of sozo and soil) and is said to be Japan's three largest Buddhas.

Rhododendron in spring, hydrangea in the rainy season, and autumn leaves in autumn color the precincts. During the Golden Week, the “Hana no Ike-Tianzhu Peony floating on the surface of the water” is held every year, where you can enjoy the gorgeous Okadera of spring.
