Kawahara-ji Temple Kofukuji Temple is a temple located in Asukamura Village, Nara Prefecture, where many historical mysteries remain. In the Asuka era, along with Asuka-ji, Yakushi-ji Temple, and Daikan-daiji Temple, it was counted as the four Great temples of Asuka, and it was a large temple where Emperor Tenmu gathered for the first time and performed a sutra. It was abandoned during the Muromachi period, but Kofukuji Temple was built on the site following the lantern.
In this experience, you will visit the main hall under the guidance of the priest, and then move to the sutra to perform the sutra. While watching the historical sites of the Asuka era, please enjoy the mysterious history of Kawahara-ji Temple and the sutra experience that feels the wind of Asuka.

Kofukuji Temple Ruins of Kawaharaji Temple
After arriving at Kofukuji Temple, you will visit the main hall under the guidance of a priest and cleanse your mind and body.
On the precincts, there are 28 foundation stones made of marble of agate stone (menou stone) at the site of Kawaharaji Naka Kondo. Why don't you touch the foundation stones of agate and think about it during the Asuka era?
Shakyo experience
At the Shakyojo, you can experience the sutra while watching the historical sites of the Asuka period. You can spend a precious time facing yourself in a comfortable tranquility.
Not only ink and inkstone, but also ink soup and brush pen are prepared, so even beginners are safe.
After experiencing the sutra, take a break with matcha and sweets. Please enjoy a relaxing time.
