Experienced in Japan's first shakyojo
Kawahara-ji Temple Ruins Kofuku-ji Temple is a temple located in Asuka Village, Nara Prefecture, with many historical mysteries remaining. In the Asuka era, along with Asuka-dera Temple, Yakushi-ji Temple, and Daikandaiji Temple, it was one of the four major temples of Asuka, and it was a large temple that Emperor Tenmu gathered calligraphy and performed for the first time. It was abandoned during the Muromachi period, but Kofukuji is the successor to the lantern and is built on the site.
In this experience, you will visit the main hall under the guidance of the priest, and then move to the Shakyojo to perform the Shakyo. Please enjoy the sutra experience of the mysterious history of Kawahara-ji Temple and the breeze of Asuka while watching the historical sites of the Asuka era.
