Local Discovery Honorable
You can enjoy the sutras of Kofukuji, the site of Kawahara-ji Temple in Asuka Village, in Grand Mercure Nara Kashihara.
In addition, we have prepared brushes and ink from Akashiya, a brush manufacturer specializing in brushes that inherit the culture of brushes for more than 300 years in Nara Prefecture, the birthplace of Japanese brushes.
For beginners and children, as well as those who have experienced calligraphy, please spend a time experiencing the history and culture of Nara through Shakyo.

Akashiya
Founded in 1716. In Yamato no Kuni, I have been engaged in making brushes as a brush clerk at Nanto Seven Great Temples. In the middle of the Edo period, the first head raised a sign of Akashiya as a brush wholesaler, and it is a brush manufacturer that has inherited the culture of brushes for more than 300 years.
There is a showroom that displays and sells products in the company building, where you can buy calligraphy brushes, brush pens, makeup brushes, etc., as well as a tour of brush making by traditional craftsmen and workshops on brush making experiences and work making.

Kofuku-ji Temple, the site of Kawahara-ji Temple
Kawahara-ji Temple Ruins Kofuku-ji Temple is a temple located in Asuka Village, Nara Prefecture, with many historical mysteries remaining. In the Asuka era, along with Asuka-dera Temple, Yakushi-ji Temple, and Daikandaiji Temple, it was one of the four major temples of Asuka, and it was a large temple that Emperor Tenmu gathered calligraphy and performed for the first time. It was abandoned during the Muromachi period, but Kofukuji is the successor to the lantern and is built on the site.
